Devin Kerr

About

Devin Kerr is a musician, intermedia artist, and sound engineer—described as a ”Max guru“ by technology writer Peter Kirn. He is currently pursuing a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Media Arts at the University of Michigan where he holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Sound Engineering and an ongoing research assistantship. Devin owns and operates Good Hertz LLC, an Ann Arbor-based music production/mastering studio.

Devin frequently composes, produces, and performs electronic music and was a winner of the 2006 New Music on the Block Competition. In 2007, he received an Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP) research fellowship to design new human interfaces for electronic music. He was a presenter at the 2008 American Auditory Society Convention and has participated in several studies on human auditory perception and sound localization. With intermedia collaborators Virgil Moorefield and Rob Alexander, Devin has performed and/or given workshops on Moorefield’s ”Five Ideas About the Relation of Sight and Sound” at the International Electroacoustic Music Festival in Santiago, Chile; the Detroit Institute of Arts; Universidad de Chile; and the University of Michigan.
